At the global awards ceremony of the Insitue of Chemical Engineers Asel was awarded the BioTechnology Award for her work on ensilication and thermally stabilising vaccines.

Asel was awarded the Women In Science and Engineering World award. The judeges comments were: "The winner has overcome a difficult cultural background to receive a degree from Cambridge University and begin inspiring research into vaccines with clear vision and focus."
