What can you expect for your Money?

Separator

Generally the more you spend the better the wine you will get. The list below is meant to be a "rule of thumb", not a definition. Dessert wines, as well as wines made in England, can be costly to make. To counter this, halve its price on a 75cl volume basis, and match it with the list below.

Under £4

If you can get a wine for under £4 it is going to be rough and very unpolished, so don't expect much. Bear in mind that the majority of the bottle's cost is going to be tax!

£4 to £6

At this range there is a noticable improvement over the under £4 range. Not to mention your choice increases dramatically!

£6 to £9

This is my preferred price range for buying wine. You get a large amount of choice, and a bottle that is unlikely to be disappointing.

£9 to £14

For this range you can get some excellent and very refined wines. A good range to buy a bottle to impress!

£14 to £25

Costly to experiment, its a good idea to know what style of wine you like before buying in this range!

Over £25

Over £25 you will need a big wallet and a very refined sense of taste. There are lots of cracking wines, but choose carefuly, at this range you could be paying for the label rather than the wine!
