The nomination to be named as a Raising Talent 2008 by the Women's Forum For Society and the Economy has been successful. This is a wonderful opportunity to raise the profile of science in general and highlight the work of women scientists.

The Rising Talents Programme aims to create each year an international network of talented women under the age of 35, coming from economic, political and civil society backgrounds on all 5 continents, in order to identify the talents of tomorrow. It is a long-term programme developed with Eurazeo with the support of Egon Zehnder.

Being identified and selected as a “Rising Talent” is a fantastic opportunity to boost your professional career and to build a strong and rich network through the many connections that you will be making with your counterparts as well as with the leading personalities who will participate at the Women’s Forum.

I have participated in the self assessment group to put together an application for an Athena SWAN Bronze Award. This was a great Opportunity to get to know more about the appalling statistics of women representation in science within the University and in the UK in general. After assessing the current situation we devised an action plan to provide more support for women in science and engineering departments at Bath.
