Northwestern Europe Regional Contest
November 19-20 2016

Location

The Competition will take place in the Founders Hall at the University of Bath

Accommodation

The city of Bath is a UNESCO world heritage site and a very popular tourist destination. The University is approximately 3 miles (5km) from the city's main train station and we would strongly recommend that you book accomodation in advance since the hostels and hotels in the city book up quickly.

We have reserved (now fully booked) cheap accommodation in the city at the YMCA,

Other low cost hostels are available in the city.

Bath is also home to a large number of (generally medium price) bed and breakfasts and (relatively expensive) hotels (There is a list here)

Travel

Once you are in the city, travel to the University is relatively straightforward. The University maintains a webpage describing the most popular ways to make that journey either on foot or by bike/bus/car. (BE WARNED: the University campus is 200m above the city centre, at the top of a very steep hill)

The city is easily reached by train, bus and car. There are regular train services from London Paddington (Journey time approx 1 hour and 30 minutes) and Bristol (Journey time approx 20 minutes).

If you wish to fly, the closest airport to the University is Bristol Airport.

Bristol Airport to Bath Spa:

Transport from Bristol airport to the University is a 2 or 3-stage process.

Logistics

The U.K. uses a different standard of power plug from continental Europe. Hence you will need an adapter if you plan to use mains-powered devices: it is generally a good idea to buy these before/at your departure airport.
