Evripides Loukaides

I grew up on the hills of the seaside town of Limassol, on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. In high-school, I entered a number of Mathematics competitions and was lucky enough to participate in an International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO 2001).

After a two-year mandatory military service, I spent four amazing years at MIT, living and studying at the Number Six club. In 2007, I graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, a minor in Mathematics, two UROPs and enough good stories for a lifetime. Subsequently, I moved to New York City, where a Teaching Assistantship supported my M.S. at Columbia University

For my PhD, I moved across the Atlantic to the UK and to Girton College, Cambridge. I worked in the Advanced Structures Group on the topic of multistable shells. I was supervised by Dr Keith Seffen and advised by Prof. Simon Guest.

Before joining the University of Bath, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate within the Low Carbon Materials Processing Group at the University of Cambridge (now the Use Less Group), under Prof. Julian Allwood. Whilst at Cambridge, I investigated ways of designing sheet metal forming processes to reduce waste. During this time, I was a Research Fellow at Darwin College.

I also respond to the name Evros.
