Baking Challenge Welcome to our baking challenge! This event has 3 rounds based on cake "type" and each entry will be judged by the committee out of 10 based on: concept, overall appearance and ingredients used. The top three from each round will then be put to a public vote for the awarding of the bronze, silver and gold medal positions (i.e. 3rd, 2nd and 1st places!). Each entry and medal will contribute points to your Team in the overall Chem-Olympics standings. Your bakes must be Chemistry-themed and this can be achieved in the decoration, colour and shape of your creations. Remember - as we cannot taste your bakes, appearance and creativity in design are very important! We would like to see multiple pictures taken throughout the baking process and these must include:
ROUND 1: CUPCAKES
We would like to see 6 identically baked cupcakes. These can be any flavour and have any filling or decoration that you would like - and of course Chemistry themed bakes will receive the most points!
ROUND 2: TRAYBAKE
For this round we would like you to produce a traybake in a flavour of your choice topped with delicious treats! Your traybake must be rectangular shaped and, again, bonus points will be awarded for links to Chemistry!
ROUND 3: TIERED CAKE
For the final round we are asking for a cake with at least 3 tiers, which can be any shape or flavour that you like. This final bake must indicate to our judges your favourite aspect of chemistry. For example, a Periodic Table design if you love Inorganic Chemistry, a benzene shaped cake if you prefer Organic, or top your cake with fondant conical flasks if you love labs! This round allows you to be your most creative and we would love to see some really unique designs! The submissions for each round will be staggered so that you can focus on one round at a time. We can’t wait to see what you produce! Good luck!
