There are several good textbooks which we can recommend for new UNIX users: "Using UNIX by Example" is ideal for first-time UNIX users who prefer a tutorial-type guide to UNIX. "The UNIX Programming Environment" is a comprehensive introduction to UNIX for people already reasonably computer-literate. "The UNIX System V Environment" is a more advanced text, for those who already know their way around UNIX and require a good reference work
