Senior Lecturer (Ass, Prof.)

I teach on the Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Engeineering and Aerospace Engineering degree programmes, and the Mechatronics MSc.

Team Bath Drones competition activity

A design, build and test activity spanning two semesters aimed at producing an autonomous unmanned aerial system to compete in the IMechE's UAS Challenge. In the first (and only) competition TBD came joint second in the manufacturing prize category and joint 4th in the Flying Operations category.

Robotics Engineering

This unit covers all the knowledge needed to analyse and control a serial robotic manipulator: transforms, kinematics, inverse kinematics, Jacobians, dynamics, inverse dynamics, trajectory planning and feedforward/feedback control.

Advanced Helicopter Dynamics

Covers key aerodynamic and rotor dynamics topics, spanning momentum theory through blade element theory to blade flapping and elastic blade modes.

Integrated Engineering

A course specifically designed for third year IMEE students, covering a breadth of topics surrounding sensing, actuation and control in both mechanical and electrical domains.

UAV Group Business and Design Project

Third year design activity tailored to the design, build and test of unmanned autonomous aircraft, covering the control, autonomy, aerodynamics, performance and structures. The unit has a business element centered around the regulatory, airworthiness and operational requirements of the growing UAS sector. There is a strong focus on systems engineering principles.
