Instructions for presentations

Oral presentations

The time allocated to each speaker is 25 minutes + 5 minutes discussion. In order to avoid delays due to technical problems, we recommend that you load up your presentation on the workshop computer in Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx) or Acrobat (.pdf) format from a USB Stick or CD/DVD before the start of the session in which you are speaking. The file should be tested on the presentation computer to make sure that everything displays correctly. In particular, make sure that you have included the fonts when storing your file and that any additional files, like videos etc., are also transferred onto the presentation computer. The latter will be equipped with Windows 7, PowerPoint 2010 and Adobe Acrobat 9.4. We discourage the use of your own laptop, because it frequently leads to delays due to compatibility problems with the settings of the projector. A flipchart will also be available.

Posters

Posters should be in A1 format and must not exceed the size of 62 cm (width) x 100 cm (height). A poster session is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday 4th May. We will try to ensure that posters remain mounted and accessible in the conference room for the entire workshop. Please try to mount your poster at lunchtime on Wednesday and remove it before Friday evening. Any remaining posters will be removed and discarded by the organizers.

Poster Prize! The best three student posters, as judged by a panel of experts, will receive prizes that have been generously sponsored by the Institute of Physics Superconductivity Group.

Conference CD-ROM

We plan to collect copies of your contributions during the workshop and send a CD-ROM containing all the material to every conference participant. For this purpose we would be grateful if you would prepare a suitable version of your talk or poster in .pdf format and hand it in during the conference. Please make sure to exclude those parts of your contribution that you do not want to be distributed.

For any questions regarding the presentations or any other technical details, please contact us at  S.Bending@bath.ac.uk.
