Some
Scanning Hall Probe Movies of Vortex Dynamics in
BSCCO (2212) Single
Crystals under Tilted Magnetic Fields.
(Movies prepared by Dr A N Grigorenko, A.Grigorenko@plymouth.ac.uk)
(i) Vortex Pumps
Motion for
Josephson vortex stacks as Ha-b is reduced from 30Oe to 0Oe at 77K, Hz=10Oe.
Motion of
Josephson vortex stacks as Ha-b is cycled from 0Oe to 55Oe and back
to 0Oe at 81K.
Note how
the stacks of Josephson vortices ‘vacuum up’ the pancake vortices as they move.
(ii) Melting of the Vortex Solid without and with and
in-plane Magnetic Field
Melting of
the vortex solid as Hz is increased from Hz=0Oe in the
absence of Josephson vortices at 81K.
Note how
quenched disorder leads to spatially inhomogeneous melting.
Melting of
the pancake vortex solid as Hz is increased from Hz=0Oe
in the presence of Josephson vortices.
Ha-b=34Oe,
T=81K.
(iii) Pancake Vortex Penetration along 1D Chains
Penetration
of pancake vortices along Josephson vortex stacks as Hz is increased
at 81K, Ha-b=35Oe.
(iv) Sublimation of 1D Vortex Chains at very high
Tilt Angles
'Sublimation'
and ‘crystallisation’ of 1D pancake vortex chains as Hz is cycled
around Hz=0Oe at 83K,
Ha-b=38Oe.
