1984: Finished A-levels at the secondary highshool,
Menntaskólinn vid Hamrahlíð, Reykjavík.
Got prize in Mathematics at the end of the studies.
1984-1988: Undergraduate student at the University of Iceland, Reykjavík.
Degree obtained: B.S. in Mathematics (1st)
1990-1993: Doctoral student at the University of Oxford, England
Scholarships: ORS 1990-1993 and FCO 1992-1993.
Thesis: Engel Lie algebras
Supervisor: Prof. M. Vaughan-Lee.
Degree obtained: Ph.D.
2004-: Docent at the University of Lund, Sweden

1988-1990: Secondary high school teacher in Mathematics at
Menntaskólinn vid Hamrahlíð, Iceland
1993-1998: Junior Research Fellow in Mathematics at
Christ Church (college), Oxford.
1993: Visiting Fellow at the University of Canberra, Australia.
The visit was for 6 weeks and was financed by a scholarship
from the same University.
1995: Visiting Fellow at the University of Würzburg, Germany.
The visit was for 8 months and was financed by a grant from
the Icelandic Science council.
1998-2000: Temporary lectureship in mathematics at the University of Bath, England.
2000-2001: Visiting Fellow at the University of Provence in Marseille, France.
Received a Marie Curie grant from the European Union to finance the visit.
2001-2005: Lecturer in Mathematics at Lunds Institute of Technology, Sweden.
2005-2008: Lecturer in Pure Mathematics at the University of Bath.
2008-2019: Reader in Pure Mathematics at the University of Bath.
