I was born in Arad, Romania, in 1976. I attended the West University of Timișoara (or Universitatea de Vest Timișoara - in Romanian) where I received a B.Sc. degree in 1998 under the supervision of Dr. Ervin Salló. I continued my studies at the same university and obtained a M.Sc. degree (2000) having Prof. Zeno Simon as supervisor. During my M.Sc. studies I was an Erasmus-Socrates graduate exchange student at Bremen University (1999-2000), where I worked under the supervision of Prof. Bernd Jastorff in the Center for Environmental Research and Sustainable Technology. In Aug. 2000, I moved to the  University of Texas at Austin and conducted research in the fields of expanded-porphyrin and pyrrole-based anion recognition chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Jonathan Sessler. For this work I was awarded a Ph.D. in Oct. 2005. Between Jan. 2006 - Sept. 2007 I was a postdoctoral research associate in the research group of Prof. Jeremy Sanders at the University of Cambridge. In Oct. 2007 I became the Stokes Research Fellow at Pembroke College, Cambridge while continuing my association with the Sanders Research Group in the Chemistry Department of University of Cambridge.  I started in Bath as a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry in Jan. 2011.
