Moel Siabod - view from Ty Bont |
The village shops in Capel Curig can supply most provisions, while a greater variety of shops can be found in Betws-y-Coed, four miles away, and Llanrwst the local market town, eight miles away.
Capel Curig is also the home of Plas y Brenin, the mountaineering centre, which provides an introduction to activities such as climbing, abseiling, canoeing, etc.
The village has three hotels: Bryntyrch, Cobdens and the Tyn-y-Coed, all of which offer bar meals, with vegetarian food a speciality of the Bryntyrch. There are also several cafes: the Pinnacle Cafe, Siabod Café and Bryn Glo Café.
The area is perfect for walkers and climbers with Snowdonia’s 14 three thousand foot peaks all within easy reach for enthusiasts, but with plenty of gentler, lower level walks to suit the less energetic - see the map below.
