sigma-sw regional hub meeting: Ideas exchange and development
University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus
Date/time: Wednesday 26th March 2014, 11:00-16:00
You are invited to attend the next meeting of the Sigma South West Hub.
The main purpose of this first meeting of 2013/14 is to re-establish links between maths support centres and practitioners in the South West and South Wales. The day will be run as an ideas exchange. Please bring with you ideas, resources or processes to share. This might be something which has been successful for dissemination, an idea in the making or something on which you would value input.
In the afternoon we will focus on developing ideas, resource designs and processes further. This will be an opportunity to make or maintain links, to receive input and feedback on current developments and to consider applications which might be made to future funding calls including:
- Sigma plans to fund up to 5 resource development projects each year, grants of £2000, details to be announced. It has been confirmed that both English and Welsh institutions will be able to bid.
- Sigma will be able to fund up to 1 internship per hub area for a student to work on a maths support development. This is expected to be £2000 with a requirement of matched funding from the institution for a second internship. Internships must be hosted at an English institution but students could come from a Welsh institution.
- Institutional teaching development grants or similar.
- Small Education Grants e.g. from professional bodies.
