1. How do we understand deviance is cyberspace?

Cyberdeviance, unlike cybercrime cannot be defined by the trespass of legal boundaries. Furthermore, some behaviour online that might be legal can still be considered counter-normative depending on the definition of those norms. This projects seeks to clarify how we define and perceive deviance in cyberspace.

2. Pathways in and out of cyberdeviance

Hitherto we still know little about the processes that foster the way into cyberdeviant behaviour and even less about those that lead to desistance or even termination of cyberdeviance. Can theories of general deviance also be applied to cyberdeviance? What is the role of social and individual processes in these developments? This projects aims at answering these and related questions.
