URB Meets Spring King at Thekla

And the boat rocked!

Last Wednesday we were fortunate enough to catch up with Spring King at their sold out show in Thekla, Bristol. Last time URB caught the Manchester quartet was again at Thekla but on the Bristol leg of the inner city festival Dot-to-Dot. First time round Spring King were excellent but it did not compare to what we saw last Wednesday.

(Left to right): Dean Breed, Andy Morton (guitar), James Green (Bass), Alex McColl

Right from the get go a mosh pit opened for ‘Better Man’ and we were dripping with sweat after only a couple of minutes which set the tone for the rest of the set. People were crowd surfing and stage diving which seemed to spur on Spring King even more who put as much energy as possible into each song.

Spring King’s sound came across in a great way, during “they’re coming after you” they slowed the tempo down which got all the crowd chanting through the chorus before picking up the energy again at the end of the track. All of Spring King’s big, and well known songs were crisp and the likes of “Summer” set the whole venue off instantly.

Tarek Musa (drums and vocals)

At the end of the set, we caught up James (bassist), Andy (guitar) and Tarek (drums and vocals) for a quick chat about the gig and their tour as whole. Listen below
