As the season of festival’s draws to an end, we opened up our arms to the long awaited, first edition of the Oasis Festival. The weekend of the 11th September 2015, saw a three day marathon of world class house and techno DJ’s, and festival attendees, on the quest for their perfect Oasis. With the site of the Fellah Hotel transformed into a Moroccan escape; both the Secret Souk and Henna Body Art, were just two of the many activities that the Oasis Festival had to offer.

With over 2,000 festival goers travelling into Marrakech from 25 different countries, it was of no surprise that the atmosphere resembled that of a community of those, with a genuine appreciation of the music. With the likes of Adriatique, Âme, Derrick Carter and DJ Harvey, being welcomed across the Desert Oasis and Bamboo Arena stages, there was no doubt that those in attendance, were taken on a musical journey.

Amongst the midst of it all, was a selection of food and drinks, to be consumed from the luxury and comfort, of contemporary sofa-like bed loungers. From the NOMAD food stall to the Laurent Perrier champagne bar, festival goers were not stuck for choice. Over the duration of the weekend, festival goers also had the opportunity to participate in daily Yoga sessions and massages, as well as soak up the sun and sounds by the pool. This really and truly allowed attendees to embrace the Moroccan culture, in the midst of Marrakech.

The picturesque scenery of pool-side loungers calming under the palm of trees, created an ambience of magical bliss. But once the sunset and the night time grew upon us, the Cactus and trees lit up and festival goers would dance their way into the night. Into the early hours of the morning, a never before seen back to back set from tINI and Cassy, and a Disco fuelled set from Carl Craig, were amongst many of the great moments to be experienced at the Oasis Festival.

Whilst the first edition of the Oasis Festival was above and beyond all expectations, this is one festival which we have high hopes for in the future, where a perfect Oasis can be found.
