Japanese fashion

Here's the place to have a good old chin wag. Talk about anything you like (within reason) - enjoy!

That's the thing: its a clash of colour and texture! and I can indulge my love for velvet and purple O.o but yeas, where to find such clothes...

I must say it appears a cheaper fashion that Lolita for example... you can have a few pieces and wear them in infinite combinations and still make the aesthetic: and accessories? yep, I'll just take that curtain tie and wear it as a necklace, that embroidered cushion cover? I'll make that into a tote bag ^_^ Magpie fashion-it's awesome! :D

You've obviously never looked at the prices they charge at Grimoire...pretty costly, as with anything vintage. And since you need more layers than lolita, a dolly-kei outfit will probably cost just as much (if not more) unless you're really lucky finding/making things! Though a lot of the outfits look like they're just wearing curtains...alter all the curtains xD

I totally want a curtain tie as an accessory - that's what makes me love dolly-kei so much. I've always had an obsession with those things but no reason to own any =P

hahaha well... nope :P I will check out Grimoire though, for ideas. And I think really it depends whether you go ''vintage'' vintage or ''trendy'' vintage :P although a lot of ''vintage'' vintage needs a bit/ lot of TLC, it doesn't have to be toooo expensive :P I'm thinking it would just be easier to find clothes about more readily than Lolita, hence avoid shipping/ import fees :P and the unstructured look of most of the clothes lends itself to easier making ^_^

I really like Dolly kei, but it seems like it would be so difficult to coordinate well. I doubt I'd ever dress in it, but it's certainly cool to see how inventive people are with some of their outfits ^_^

What about Fairy kei? I've had a fondness for it for a while (I count it as slightly strange that I started liking Fairy kei before I started liking Sweet Lolita...), and looking at some pictures of it this morning has made me realise how amazing it can actually look :D

I can appreciate it, as I can anything if I look at it as objectively as possible, but :S I don't buy into pastels in Lolita, so like Fairy Kei even less I'm afraid :/ I like a bit of glamour (jewel tones, embroidery, gothic lace and roses)... but that's just me :P there have already been some posts on Fairy Kei in this topic, so you're not the only one :P

I completely forgot that Fairy kei was mentioned earlier in this topic, guess that's what happens when discussion is spread over a few weeks :P But yeah, I just really love the hyper-colourful craziness of Fairy kei ^_^
