Terminator 2 (Week 2)

What did people think?

I haven't seen it in years but it still held up as good as I remembered :) I really noticed the build up to the grenade shot this time and there was loads of shots of feet:P

Would have liked to have come to the screening but I had other things on. It's been ageees since I last saw this (3-4 years counts as ages...). I remember liking it, but thinking the film was dragged down slightly by the annoying kid :P I remember prefering the original by quite a bit, a really enjoyable mix of horror and sci-fi. Terminator 2 veers more towards action stuffs and so misses out on some of what made the original interesting. Still, good fun.

yeah I agree the kid was slightly annoying but he is kinda needed for the story so I mostly over look it:P

oh....
I guess I'm the only one who liked him then, given he reminds me so much of someone I know

Oh well- I get that some of his line or the way he speaks are grating, but it was written when language like that was the norm. And given he was only a child actor...

Still! Hadn't seen Terminator nor any of the sequels so I found it pretty good. Can't help but rage inside though and feel very glad Psychiatry has advanced in the past decades.

I didn't attend but I remember film being good, and the kid not being too bad. Having seen this film first I think I probably like the first film the same as the second. Maybe I wouldn't have had I seen them in the correct order.

I tell you what was cool: the effects... Like when the liquid metal froze and shattered, and then melted again, and then was all squidgy >.<

Oh, I saw Terminator 2 before the original as well. It isn't about me being disappointed in the second one not living up to the first or anything like that (besides, I've always found judging a film based on your expectations to be kind of silly), it's just simply that I don't find what 2 does as interesting. I kind of look at it in the same way as I look at Alien and Aliens. Alien is an impressive mix of sci-fi and horror, whereas Aliens is just kind of dumber and more explosiony in comparison which doesn't tend to appeal to me as much. (though as I said I do like Terminator 2, and it's definitely my favourite by quite some distance of the three classics we've screened so far this semester)

On a slightly more flippant note, I also prefer how little Schwarzenegger speaks in the first Terminator compared to the second :P
