TGHLTT and Spirited Away (Week 11, 17th of December 2010)

Due to interviews, I was unable to attend TGHLTT. However, having seen it before I know what happens. It certainly gives you a lot of respect for trains ;)

Amazingly, I hadn't seen Spirited Away. It had been on my watch list since last Christmas when it was on TV but once we decided to screen it I decided to hold off until then. I can definitely see why it's got such high acclaim, but Princess Mononoke still remains my favourite Ghibli film.

You'll mainly find me at Anime, but also at some of the Classic and Contemporary screenings. I'm usually in the student centre before screenings too.

I personally loved the girl who leapt through time but it felt more like a long series, maybe of 3-4 long episodes?

Spirited away is epic, and I love it muchly! Pretty obvious why is it so well liked.....!

it certainly was an entertaining screening. Especially the technical problems :P

I think that the Spirited Away disk picked up how to time leap from The Girl who Leapt through Time.

It was somewhat amusing when it just went back to the start. Had it not been for my intervention, we could have entered an endless recursion of watching Spirited Away (perhaps not a bad thing).

...and courtesy of TVTropes;

Drinking Game: Every time Chihiro stumbles, trips, hits her head or otherwise shows klutziness, take a shot. Every time she says "Yes, Ma'am!", take two shots. Or, alternatively, every time you want to give Chihiro a hug and tell her it's going to be okay, take a shot, and then proceed to die of alcohol poisoning.

everyone loves endless recursion.

anime drinking games (or any drinking game on tvtropes for that matter) are not for the faint of heart (or liver).

Wish I'd been there, but I was picked up to be taken home when TGHLTT would have only been half finished :(

Spirited Away just edges out My Neighbour Totoro as my favourite Miyazaki film, and is among like...my twenty favourite films. Any excuse to watch it is an excuse worth making :D I haven't seen TGHLTT yet, but have heard good things and want to check it out some time...
