As they seem to be real people trying to sell things i'm not sure what we can do to stop them, other than introduce, say a waiting time before you are allowed to post, I think we already have email based conformation for sign-up?

Could you have it so that instead of the 'where is the University' question, all society members are sent some password to enter instead?

I did think about only allowing sign-ups from inside the university network (i.e. on campus somewhere or using the VPN) - maybe I should look more into this idea.

I'm not sure that'd fit so well with our graduate/other extraplanar being members. Well, not them directly, but the prospect of there being future members from a non-currently-studying-at-this-university background.

A new user password by email seems like a good idea, but then I have no idea how it'd be implemented, or how difficult it'd be.

it's only a problem for us ex-pats if you can only access accounts within, also if you really want one that surely just contact an admin and ask nicely?

Well, I love The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and because the lead character in that show is a deity fans of the show refer to their religion as being Haruhiism. Hence, Haruhiist

Well the first real Anime series I watched was Naruto, and it was the show that got me addicted to Anime as a whole. My two favourite characters from it are Kakashi Hatake and Sasuke Uchiha, and now although I rate them about equally, Sasuke is just overall a contender for my favourite character in Anime as a whole.

The CM part comes from the fact I am a big fan of the wrestler CM Punk (though I do often wonder if people who see it think I chose CM because it could stand for curse mark)

Maybe I should have explained. It's because in Naruto, some characters were given curse marks by one of the main antagonists which gives them much more power, (and in the most advanced state even drastically changed the persons appearance) and Sasuke Uchiha is one of the people who frequently used the power of the curse mark. So some people might think that the CM stands for curse mark for that reason.

From when I went on Neopets years ago...couldn't think of a name so just named something in the room. My friend set up the account for me when I wasn't present and apparently she thought fireextinguisher was spelt with a 'q', but I'm too lazy to think of a new username so it stuck.

I agree, the 'q' does make it rather more...squishy, final. You're not just blowing out that fire, you're vanquishing it!

Or throwing rubber balls at it, but that requires far more paperwork.

Hehe you can tell I am a) bored and b) working my way through the forums >.<

Lisey is a Stephen King character. She's married to a successful author who dies in strange circumstances which are all linked to the supernatural and a lot of psychology. Essentially I choose her name because even though we may not seem alike, her tendency to be honest about her abilities and the strength of her relationship with her husband are all things I bear in mind. She smashed a would be assassin over the head with a shovel, too, which is just awesome. Yeah, even though she's not the most glamorous or smart character ever, she stays strong even when put upon and has the courage and strength to go where she knows there is danger to save the things she loves.

And now I am off to reread Lisey's Story
