end of evangelion - probably not the best one to show considering it takes place before/during/after the last episodes of evangelion tv
ghost in the shell - never seen it, but supposed to be quite good
summer wars - supposed to be on dvd by march 2011 according to wikipedia.

End of Evangelion probably isn't the best like you say as not everyone will have seen Evangelion itself, myself included (!).
I can't believe I didn't suggest Summer Wars myself, I saw it in London during May exams (heh) and absolutely loved it.

(film_suggestions++)++

Grave of the Fireflies (Hotaru no Haka) - Poignant story of two children trying to survive in war-torn Japan after their mother is killed in an air raid. Widely respected as one of the finest animated films, ever, but also widely reputed to be among the saddest films ever shown — so much so that AVClub.com has included it in their list Not Again: 24 Great Films Too Painful To Watch Twice. Summary from [guess]

Nausicaa Of The Valley of the Wind - from the creator of spirited away... sorry, just had to put that there :P, it's supposed to be quite good, and it was the Macekre of its english dub that led to ghibli's policy of never allowing people to cut their films. Ever.

Every single Ghibli film has this sticker on it! I've even seen a few copies of Spiritied Away that have had this on them!

However, i'd already suggested this film earlier in the thread. I guess that's an indication that you'll be voting for it at least :)

Figure 17 - alien twin sister, slice of life and magical girl and scifi. It also has a wierd broadcast format: 13x45min episodes

I sort of said last week that nominations for Anime will be open until the start of the AGM (i.e until 7:20PM on the 19th of November).

Since i'm doing all of the work for compiling all of the anime suggestions together, i'm happy to keep it this way (but nominations will not be accepted during the AGM like last year). Hence, disregard what Craig and Hannah said - they're still open!

Okay, if you're happy, go ahead. There are already a crazy number of suggestions, and voting took a good while tonight, so I dread to think how long it'll take on Friday! :P

I've got the feeling it's going to take a long time, so planning ahead we got through 10 episodes of Lost Universe last week leaving just 8 for this week.

Just a reminder that nominations will close at 19:19 on the 19th of November 2010, i.e. just before the AGM starts. Nominations will only be accepted by replying to this thread and will not be taken in-person at the AGM.

I'm currently typing up all of the nominations. Currently typed up 39, including 5 which are disqualified due to reasons that will be explained during voting.

However, it's 1:54 and I need some sleep. Typing will resume in the morning!

Everything is typed up, but we're only at 59 nominations. To make it a nice round number, i'm going to additionally nominate The Place Promised in Our Early Days. Another beautiful film by the same people as 5 Centimetres per Second that i've been wanting to see for a while!

Out of a total of 60 nominations, 6 have been disqualified for various reasons that will be explained in voting. 41 series and 19 films where nominated.

Nominations are still open should you wish to nominate something else but judging by the number of recent nominations it seems that all options have been exhausted! Voting takes place from 7:20PM this evening. If you are unable to make it, then you can vote by email too (but not both! Vote at the AGM or by email!).

For those who didn't/couldn't attend the AGM to vote in person, i've just sent the voting email out. The process is the same as classic and contemporary, reply with the ones you'd like to see and send the email.

Voting closes at 23:59 on Friday the 26th of November 2010, so don't waste any time!
