Wow! That was a blast from the past. I'd definately seen all of it as a kid but forgotten how awesome it is. The plot rocked, even though it was about as haphazard as a 4-year old's drawing skills, and about 5 times as creative. The near to end scene with the final fight was hillarious!

If we can get Baron Von Munchausen in next semester it's pretty much more of the same!

Very much so at times, very much so. I think the problem is at points it lagged and then suddenly you'd have a very funny scene. Well worth watching though!

Not as funny as I expected considering who wrote it.

I think it depends really- I've seen it so many times I not only notice all the little things that most people probably miss, but I know which jokes are coming. And still love them.

I know the ending is a bit... strange, but I think I prefer it to the usual "... and Kevin's mummy and daddy decided they loved him more than the blender and they all lived happily ever after.". A lot of people like to think that he gets adopted by Sean Connery. I'm not sure about that, but I don't think it's quite as bleak as it seems.

I heard the Maths course is pretty punishing in the first year now. Mind you, I got snowed under with Chris Budd's extra long worksheets. Really well done sheets, but they took FOREVER. No idea if he still follows that pattern!

So far Budd's sheets have actually been the easiest for me. I can usually get them mostly done in the 50 minute tutorial session with a tiny bit of outside help for the stuff I've forgotten (though, we are only in week 4, so I'm guessing they will get quite a bit harder soon). Analysis on the other hand is taking me ages. A couple of the 2 hour long Mash sessions (which means loads and loads of help) as well as my tutorial and a bit of free time gazing at them and I can just about stumble through them...

That's because they didn't introduce proper analysis for us till our second year. I think you guys still get some set theory, function work and such as a starter point, but it's presented in a more rigorous way and it's all 'lean meat' as it were - they've trimmed off the fat and as such you guys are getting stuff much quicker than we ever got it! What's your analysis stuff consist of at the moment?

Chris's stuff wasn't hard, exactly, it's just he asked a lot of questions per sheet, so it took a while, especially the geometry bit of the course.

A few days ago we were doing the growth factor test, the completeness axiom. Today we did Archimedes' postulate (which we'd already done in another module), rational powers and we're just starting infinite limits. This problem sheet that is due in on Monday has algebra of limits, induction and completeness axiom as well as some other stuff.
