A member today was keen upon King Kong and the same week King Kong as a classic, or similar classic/contemporary remake combos.

In that case, it's probably worth putting both up - one on the classic vote, one on the contemporary vote. If both want to be seen by enough people, we could consider doing something like that.

Since there's already been the other two, Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder? A bit worse than the other two, but does complete the set.

Also, how will the voting work? As in, a big list and you pick x, or something else?

Isn't it 'Bender's Game' next?

Basically, each of the three nights we'll have a big list of all the suggestions corresponding to that night, and after a little explanation of what the film is about, we'll see how many people want to see that film by a show of hands. There will then be an opportunity to vote by email for those that couldn't make the screening. The ten/eleven films with the most votes will be shown next semester...although if anything ties the committee make the final decision. Hopefully it'll all be explained in the weekly email and on the night.

Oh, so it is. I've seen it as well, forgot it was actually a film... Well, that's fine because it's better than Green Yonder anyway.

Since today's Rifftrax was so, er...interesting, what about Harry Potter Rifftrax, as the films are frankly pretty awful. I think the first three are available, not sure which is the most laughable.

Also Shrek (first or second, or maybe both if you wanted another double bill. But not the third)
For fun, The Mummy Returns, which is sort of similar to the first but with lots more reincarnation and a jolly kidnapping)

And I don't know if it's 'so bad it's good' or 'so bad you want to die', because I haven't seen it and don't know anyone who has, but Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus... Well, with a title like that, what do you expect?

Have taken exec decision and put Shrek 2 (since Shrek's been shown by the soc, admittedly ages ago, but still) on the list, along with the first Harry Potter (because laughing at mini-Radcliffe is so fun) and the other suggestions.

Suggestions close at 7.30pm today, people! We already have loads, so we may be going through them at a slightly faster pace than at yesterday's screening.

I cannot believe I forgot Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus! Haven't seen it either, but the trailer looks good enough. Might be worth checking that it's not a trailer's worth of stuff spliced into an hour of anti-fun though.

Hmm, The Mummy Returns could be more entertaining than The Mummy, and hey! Evolution spoilers! It is epic though.

Well, there were some people on the IMDB reviews saying the trailer was better than the film, but then they could well have been 'I'm going to treat this like a srs film' reviews rather than laughing at the lack of acting or plot.

Just to check; has it been decided whether Sweeney Todd counts as tenous fantasy? It's Tim Burton, which obviously means it's a pretty surreal film anyway, but since it's a surreal account of the adventures of a fictional character, I reckons it should be allowed in. And you need at least one film with singing per semester. And there's lots of hilarious Monty Python style blood spurting. And Alan Rickman. And Johnny Depp.

I think the general feeling is that it isn't really suitable, simply because the sci-fi/fantasy element isn't there. Personally I'd love to see it, so it might go to a vote anyway, but it may get vetoed later by the committee as a whole, because it doesn't fit what our society is supposed to show. Just a warning. There are also more films with songs on on the list...we need to endeavour to get at least one of them shown next semester!
