I love lolita! :D I'm so gutted I missed out on the meet that was going on in Bath! Admittedly I have very little lolita clothing (due to various other expensive hobbies, namely cosplay xD ) but I want to start a collection of clothes soon! *cough* student loan has come in *cough* have quite a few lolita mooks and the outfits in them never fail to amaze me. Your outfits looks amazing! x3

NOOOOOOOOOO! It was fun ^_^ there are so many (well... about 5 >.<) Lolitas actually in Bath too! There will be more meets I can guarantee it :)

But your cosplay is awesome, so you are forgiven :P >.<

hahaha Noooo... bad mentality O.O Actally felt the same though... and then realised I need a new laptop or will cease to be able to do work :(
And I have a stack of GLBs which I still flick through in an idle moment :P

aaaaa I got hold of (more) Gothic Lolita Bibles (GLB's) lately for cheeeap (yesh!) so have been browsing through those ^_^ They are essentially magazine books (mooks) so plenty of pages stuffed full of full colour glossy photos of preeetty clothes :P My only issue is they hardly have any Kodona, which is a tad annoying :/ Anyway, they also come with (limited, but still good) clothes patterns, and I was wondering if anyone else makes their own clothes, of whatever fashion they wear (I realise this thread has somewhat been overtaken by Lolita >.<)

I really want to make my own stuff but I have no sewing experience (I lie, I made a cushion once in tech...) and I don't have a sewing machine! I wouldn't want to handsew as my cross-stitch makes my fingers sore enough. Still tempted to try though, as I want that forest animal fabric we saw in that store! But will probably try to make some fairy kei stuff first as it's simpler and less fitted...and stuff like tutus don't have to be even or neat =P

I'll keep an eye out for any future meets then! ^^

Why thank you :P

They are lovely but soooo expensive! I've also got a lot of gosu rori mooks and english and japanese GLB. The english ones are way behind on what is considered 'in style' but they are still nicely done and I can actually understand them for a change! xD They have some lovely patterns but I can't say that I have ever really gotten round to trying to use them. It would seem that making lolita clothes requires a lot of funding (as the fabric and lace choice is super important I believe) but mainly, it requires a lot of time which I can't seem to find. >.< Hm... I don't think I've come across kodona before?

On another note, I have a few clothes I suppose which fall under the category of visual kei?

@fireextinguisher: hehe, tutus are fun to make! And you don't even need to sew to make them. ^^

Gosh, this is an entire world of fashion that I have never ever seen or witnessed!

[Analysing the pictures above] It looks all so pretty, so much detail, the beautiful colours, wow, how did I not know about this....

Does this make me deprived? :P

There's another meet on Saturday if anyone's interested.

Was supposed to be just my friend coming down, but yeah that got kinda hi-jacked (trying to get over my slight annoyance haha. It isn't working).

I have the skirt version of that! Tbh I hate that dress though, it looks like it'd be really unflattering worn imo xP

Have you guys seen that special version of Chess Chocolate? It's really tacky and assaults my eyes, but I still kind of want it...despite hating it. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

hehe, I actually saw Chess Chocolate earlier today (I decided to look through all of AP's OPs earlier) :P I pretty much feel the same towards it as you do.. It's tacky, but... I dunno, maybe just because I played chess a lot when I was younger but I can't help but have a bit of fondness for that OP in all its delirious tackiness

I do genuinely love the Soap Bubbles OP though :) I dunno how flattering it would actually be but I do know that it's the first time a really sweet AP dress has really interested me (hence the looking through all their OPs earlier this afternoon). It looks so pretty!

I just love it because I love princess sleeves (though I prefer on more plain pieces) and I adore Chess Chocolate print (tried to buy the skirt but I missed out, booooo).

I have a thing against OPs in general though...I just find them uncomfortable to wear as I need a blouse tucked into my petti or it'll irritate my stomach and try to fall down! But then Soap Bubble is totally see-through anyway so I guess there would have to be something underneath it anyway...

hmm, I prefer the Chess Chocolate skirt to the OP but I still don't like the very bottom of it with the chocolate blocks. I dunno if this makes me weird, but I'm generally not at all keen on food items in prints (with the exception of something like strawberries), and I'm particularly averse to deserts and sweets being on clothes :? I do looooove princess sleeves though ^_^

I haven't actually worn an OP yet (only a JSK) so can't really comment, but I certainly love how some of them look.

Done the horrible thing of reading only the most recent post before commenting, hence missed out a lot of this -.- sorry :P that's what stats does to you: makes you read through anything that's not coursework related! haha -.-

There is a FB group specifically for organising meets and the like, if you want adding ^_^

yeah, that is true, material can sometimes cost so much I have to justify projects based on things like being exactly what I want from a dress etc >.< otherwise they can be just as pricey! and the pattens in GLBs tend to be for teeny sizes :S Gosu Rori is better, but I heard it's gone out of print now :(
Also, Kodona tends to be the more 'boystyle' coords seen (rarely) in GLBs etc, though they tend to make them look a little clownish for my taste. To be expected though, I guess, given the flamboyant nature of the fashion :P For days when you still wnat to dress up but can't find room for three petticoats :)

P.s. VK is awesome.

I think looking at the HelloLace site there is a sort of cami- slip dress thing separate underneath? but yeah, the material is a very floaty chiffony material :P pretty, but I'd not wear it >.< it's not velvet! hahaha :P Think it looks prettiest in the pink :)

Well, it isn't on there any more..someone must have bought it..

Yes, someone... :P

tbh, it's probably a bit too short for me on its own, but if I can coordinate it with an underskirt that adds a couple inches to the outfit's length then it should work. It's pretty enough to make figuring out a solution worthwhile ^_^

Anyone heard of or like Dolly Kei? I was browsing a forum and found this link :

http://dolly-kei.tumblr.com/

I think its eclectic and quite cool! I like the 6th outfit with the red bloomers :P kinda reminds me of Steampunk but exotic O.o

EDIT: it would be difficult to pull off well, though, without looking like a charity shop waif methinks >.<

I love dolly kei, but I'm yet to find any clothes that can be used for it at all! I think I'd be too worried to try it though, I'm quite a matchy-matchy person so it'd be quite a challenge for me to wear stuff like that =P
