Welcome to the University of Bath's Sci-Fi and Fantasy Society Website

This is the place to be if you want to know about the society, and the screenings we hold (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: doors normally open at 19:15 with 19:30 start). There are also active forums which are great for talking to like-minded people. We're a very friendly and welcoming society, with a wide range of interests and hobbies besides simply sci-fi and fantasy.
Join the society by heading over to BathStudent and clicking on "join." - you won't regret it!

Minor Website Updates
You may have noticed that the BathStudent.com page changed for a few days: the SU screwed around with it (I have a fair idea what they were trying to do when they broke our page, needless to say it only took me 30 minutes to work around) - this is now mostly fixed, so if you see any problems, please let me know.

Also the sidebar now tells you what is on this week in chronological order, and will grey out events which have already taken place, as well as highlighting those taking place today!

Anime Taster Evening - 9th October
This coming Friday, we will be holding an anime taster evening in 8W3.22. This is an opportunity to come and see the (all new!) anime night format, as well as a chance for people who haven't really watched it before to come and see what it's all about.

I am aware it isn't the easiest of rooms to find, so go out onto the parade, and walk away from the library on the side opposite to Fresh. Go through Wessex House, and down to the main 8W building. Just before the main doors on your left, you will see some stairs - go up these, through the door at the top, and if memory serves it is the first room on the right after the men's toilets.

Here's what we should be showing:
Angel Sanctuary
Azumanga Daioh
DNAngel
Elfen Lied
Hell Girl
Kannazuki no Miko
Last Exile
Shaman King
Tenchi Muyo!
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Hope to see you there!

Societies fair - 5th October
It is good to see that we already have some first years signing up! We will of course be at the societies fair (I spent a good half hour in the SU office waiting for the flyers to print), so look for us there.

2009-2010 screenings list, Anime format review and welcome to freshers
Firstly, exam results have come out and Freshers for the coming year will now be registering online having secured their places. Well done, it isn't easy to get to this point! Hopefully, after looking around you will decide to join us - membership is cheap, only £4 for the entire year and for that you get free access to all screenings and can come to other trips and events organised by the society. This year we are of course going to run the traditional trip to Bristol, and are hoping to run a trip to the Bournemouth sci-fi convention and more regular unofficial meet ups at the cinema, so it should be good: make sure you sign up on BathStudent.com!

Good news for everybody! Along with the major updates to the website (which are still ongoing), I have put all the screenings for next semester on the calendar and screenings page. This list is pretty much finalised and we hope there is a strong range of things to keep you occupied.

Existing members will know that anime has traditionally run very late, and is quite a slog sometimes. To try and open these screenings up to more members, and to allow everybody the opportunity to get home safely (ourselves included!) while the buses are still running, we are trying a new arrangement where we split a 13 episode series over 2 weeks, and only show a single longer series split over 3.

The end of Christmas has come to the Sci-Fi & Fantasy website!
In celebration of the new year, and all the freshers who will be joining soon, some work has been done on the website! The ivy is gone, this new fangled news page is here, and we also have a nice new calendar which will be used for all events, not just screenings (though they are of course listed, with approximate durations!).

If you have any comments about the site, please post them on the forums.
