Spring 2008

Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings are in the Chaplaincy and start at 6.15pm. Please keep checking your email for the latest information regarding all events.

29th January 2008
Civil Courage
Alison leads a discussion on civil courage and whether we should stand up for what we believe in the face of oppression.

5th February 2008
Pancake Day!
We'll be celebrating Shrove Tuesday in style with much cooking, flipping and eating of pancakes!

12th February 2008
Guest Speaker
Rev. Melanie Reed from Oldfield Park Methodist Church will be coming to speak. Look forward to some interesting discussion...
Start: 5.30pm in the Chaplaincy
Followed by a Three Faith Forum at 6.45pm

19th February 2008
Pudding and Prayer
Nothing sums up BANG! better than the combination of cake and God (or should that be the other way round?). Drop in to the Chaplaincy for pudding and evening prayer.

22nd-24th February 2008
We go off on our fantastic Retreat to Downside Abbey, a monastery south of Bath. This is the highlight of the BANG! year, and a great way to spend a weekend. For more information, contact su5bang at

26th February 2008
Quiche Day!
Otherwise known as the BANG! AGM, this is where we decide who will be running the society next year. Come along for free food, and a trip to the pub afterwards.

4th March 2008
International Ecumenism
Rev. Angela Berners-Wilson, the University Chaplain, will be informing us about the work of the World Council of Churches and international work for Christian unity.

11th March 2008
The Atonement
One of the most important (and complex) issues of Christian theology is what the Crucifixion actually was about, and how it leads to forgiveness of sins. Adam will lead a discussion that probably won't find any answers, but might raise a few questions.

Everyone is welcome to any of our meetings -- don't worry if you're not a member, just turn up!
Unless otherwise stated, our regular meetings at 6.15 in the Chaplaincy will end at 7.15. Timings for other meetings vary.
