What is BANG!?

BANG! is a small, friendly student society with a (very) slight Anglican bias. We aim to provide space for discussion and debate on a wide range of topics, along with a creative range of informal social events. Check out our programme for more idea of what we get up to.

Our name more or less stands for University of Bath Anglican Society and so Christian faith is an important part of the society. However we welcome anyone whether you are from a different denomination or just wanting to find out about the Christian faith. Our membership frequently includes Methodists, Baptists, Catholics and even the odd Anglican! You don’t have to be a member to the Christian Union to join BANG!; we aim to complement and provide something different to the CU.

As well as our weekly meetings we have a number of annual events, the main one being our Retreat, which takes place in February. This is a chance to take a break after the exams, for a weekend away in the beautiful countryside surrounding Bath. The Retreat gives you time to relax, join in Bible study and discussion as well as go walking, play games and eat lots of cake!

Other popular annual events include a Christmas Meal and a prayer pilgrimage to Wells Cathedral.

If you want to find out more about BANG!, then our first event is a quiz in Freshers’ week. Have a look at our Programme , for upcoming events or email our Chair James at jwm26@bath.ac.uk.
