Shure Beta 52

Introduction

The Shure Beta 52 is designed for use with kick drums and is recognisable for its shear size and weight. In an ideal world, every kick drum has a hole in the front to allow a microphone to be placed inside (without a stand) or held up to (with a stand). Unfortunately, some drums haven't got a hole so the choice is either use a knife (its been done before) or have the Beta 52 on a stand facing the front drum skin.

Things you need to look out for

The microphone comes with its own short mic stand, which is about a foot high. When not being used with the Beta 52, it is ideal for use with an SM 57 to mic up a guitar amp.
