Jobin Yvon triple grating spectrometerResolutionPM: 0.1 cm-1 CCD: 0.3 cm-1 Slits: 20 microns for CCD (equals pixel size), as small as possible for PM! The zero position of the spectrograph entrance slit is not very accurate- it is close to 40 microns. Counter error not large. JY Prism Software: quick reference obsolete! new CCD now fitted... UEA home-made single grating spectrometer
Takes the same gratings as the Spex single in the PR lab. Counter reliable but units arbitrary. Mount for S20 PM. Spex single (PR lab)UV and visible gratings available. Counter unreliable. S20 PM fitted (in a cooled housing but cooling not required). Spex single (ODMR setup)IR and 1200 g/mm and 300 g/mm visible gratings available. Takes the same gratings as the Spex double. Counter reliable and error not large. Have mounts for S20 and cooled GaAs PM tubes. Spex 1401 double grating1200 g/mm and 300 g/mm pairs of gratings available. Counter reliable, error very small. Have a cooled GaAs PM tube mount that fits. CalibrationTables of spectral lines can be found on the web, for example at http://physics.nist.gov/cgi-bin/AtData/main_asd Usually the mercury line emitted by the room lights is useful, with a tilted piece of paper somewhere near the sample position: To 4 figures, the bright lines are blue: 4358Å green: 5461Å Other Hg lines are: 4046.557 6501.38 6521.13 6584.26 6610.12 6709.29 6716.43 6907.52 7081.90 7091.86 7346.37 7485.87 7517.46 7728.82 7808.10 7944.66 7946.75 7984.51 8151.64
Renishaw calibrationThe Renishaw Raman microscope should be allowed to perform the motor position check (that is offered on starting the software) as a first step to obtaining accurate Raman shifts and wavelength data! Diamond (1332 cm-1) provides a useful calibration line, as do the Raman modes of atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen. |
