CCD
HWINIT to initialise (required each time the PC is switched on). Operating temperature 140K, so do not
switch off the power supply if there is still liquid nitrogen in the dewar.
Data files
 | .M00 means multichannel, intensity versus pixel number |
 | .L00 means multichannel, intensity versus wavelength. Is created
automatically if windows are "glued" together, otherwise must be
created one-at-a-time by hand from .M00 files. It is therefore
recommended that you always turn "Linearized Glued Output" on
even when it is not necessary, to save tedious processing of data
afterwards. |
 | Program JYTRANS can convert batches of .L00 files into ASCII. |
APDs
 | Hamamatsu Si APD type 5460 (usual Si response); data
sheet here |
 | Hamamatsu Si APD type 5331 (extended UV response); data
sheet here. Check the frequency response of this APD before using! |
 | InGaAs photodiode (not actually an APD); extracts from manual:
|
PM
On JY triple: GaAs photon counting, voltage supplied by external PSU, not the
JY one: -1400V is suitable. Preamplifier power supply must be switched on (small
black box usually on top of aluminium frame).

Data files
 | .S00 means photomultiplier (scanning mode); intensity versus wavelength. |
 | Program JYTRANS can convert batches of .S00 files into ASCII. |
