At
the end of July 2003 I photographed this scene in Westgate Street. It is obvious
to me that the only way to prevent the further destruction of property in this
street is to make the vehicle access so narrow that lorries will no longer be
able to mount the pavement to get round each other.
Today the pavement and kerb are a mess of tarmac patches, broken slabs and loose kerbstones.
And still they keep mounting the kerbs and squeezing pedestrians into the walls and doorways.
