Professor Jolyon Howorth

Professor Jolyon Howorth joined the Department in 1985. Since 2004, he has held an ad personam Jean Monnet Chair in European Politics at Bath. He has been Visiting Professor of Political Science at Yale University since 2002. He has also taught at the Universities of Paris, Aston, Wisconsin, Harvard, Columbia and Washington. He is the author or editor of many books, including The European Union and National Defence Policy (1997); European Integration and Defence: the Ultimate Challenge? (2000);  Defending Europe: the EU, NATO and the Quest for European Autonomy (2003); and Security and Defence Policy in the European Union.
