Status: Married with two children. Employed by the University of Bath.
This is a game that originated in Continental Europe. It is played between two teams of one, two or three members each. Each team takes it in turn to throw their boules (which are 750g steel balls) nearest to the cochonnet or jack (a small one inch diameter wooden ball). The winning team is the one with most boules close to the cochonnet.
Cultivating my garden and growing plants in containers has been the best way to cure the headaches developed as a result of staring at VDUs for too long.
Although I grow various vegetables for use in the kitchen, my main interest has always been flowering plants. Propogating new plants from seeds and cuttings is more rewarding than buying plants from garden centres (and cheaper!). Recent successes from seed have been Lilium Regale and Alstromeria Ligtu Hybrids.
I have also had some success with growing tropical plants indoors under artificial light.
My specialities are Indian and Italian cuisine. I don't cook meat and I try to use natural ingredients whenever possible.
