the League this year.
Omniboules is the petanque
(a.k.a. boules) team of the University of Bath Staff Association (Omnibus). We
are registered in the Bath League de Petanque, and play in the League events held on
alternate Tuesdays in Queen Square.
All
Omnibus members, their partners, family and friends are very welcome to join us
for matches, and for practices held in good weather on the piste
at Claverton Down Community Hall at lunchtimes, and
sometimes on the intervening Tuesdays in Queen Square.

will put you on our mailing-list so you will be notified of matches and
practices.

Omniboules started in 2011, with immediate success:
winning 3rd place in the Lower Division and the trophy above.
Then
a brief (seven-year) hiatus

Until:
2018 Glory:
The
Team on Tuesday 14th August 2018, who won in a quarter-final match. Playing to 9 points with no limit on ends, we
crept steadily up to lead 8-1, before losing points. At 8-6 we scraped the
final point!
Luckily
the opposition did not notice that we had more than the usual 3 players ;-)
After
a season of sun and warmth, the Finals
matches on 4th September 2018 were played in dank, cold drizzle.
Omniboules were playing Withy King in the final of the Lower Division; the
match was played to 11 points. After we were losing 0-7 we got into our stride,
and pulled the score to 9-9. Then 10-9 to us. And then: we lost 10-11. Very
evenly matched teams.
There
were four of us at the end-of-season party to receive our trophy. On the plus
side: the second-place trophy is a much cooler affair (see the top of the page)
than the boring old plate which Withy King were lumbered with.

First meeting is a friendly on May 14th, with appropriate refreshments (cheese, salami,
pastis) and a party atmosphere: definitely not to be
missed!

find each other before play starts at 6pm.
