Current and former postgrads and postdocs

Tim Stickland

Tim worked as a postdoc with Nigel Franks and Nick Britton on foraging in ants.

Ana Sendova-Franks

Ana worked with Nigel Franks and Nick Britton on task-switching in ants, as a postdoc funded by the Leverhulme Trust. She is now a Reader at the University of the West of England.

Stephen Gourley

Stephen did a PhD with Nick Britton on nonlocal effects in predator-prey systems. He is now a Professor at the University of Surrey.

Rob Laister

Rob did his PhD with Nick Britton on nonlocal reaction-diffusion equations for single and competing species models. He is now a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of England.

Silvia Boi

Silvia was in Bath for six months on a TMR postgraduate fellowship from the EU. She worked with Nick Britton and Nigel Franks on the phenomenon of rhythmicity within ants' nests.

Emma Stott

Emma did her PhD with Nick Britton on the mathematical modelling of the effects of cell adhesion on tumour growth.

Graeme Boswell

Graeme did his PhD with Nick Britton and Nigel Franks on the effects of habitat fragmentation on population dynamics and extinction, especially of the army ant Eciton burchelli. He is now a Reader at the University of Glamorgan.

Mark Penney

Mark did his PhD with Nick Britton and Sue Wonnacott, Biology and Biochem, on models for neurons in the nicotinic reward pathway.

Andrew Spencer

Andrew did his PhD with Nigel Franks and Nick Britton on pattern forming processes in biological systems.

Melissa Cox

Melissa worked with Nick Britton and Nigel Franks on the effects of speed and contact rates on sorting of workers in ants' nests, before returning to Sydney to complete her PhD.

Claudia Carrillo

Claudia did her PhD with Nick Britton and Mike Mogie, Biology and Biochem, on the coexistence of sexual and asexual conspecifics in plants. She is now at Oxford Brookes.

James Stewart-Cox

James also did his PhD with Nick Britton and Mike Mogie, Biology and Biochem, on the evolution of sex in plants.

Peter Hancock

Peter did his PhD with Nick Britton on the effects of habitat loss and fragmentation on biological diversity.

Loukia Lili

Loukia did her MPhil with Nick Britton and Ed Feil, Biology and Biochem, on bacterial infections.

Farida Chamchod

Farida did her PhD with Nick Britton on cross-immunity in multi-strain infectious diseases. After a post-doc in Miami, she is now a Lecturer at Mahidol University in Thailand.

Finn McQuaid

Finn is doing a PhD with Nick Britton on the structure of ecosystems.
