will

The Triumph of the Will a fine Nazi film by Lena Reisenstal, is a remarkable film of the Nuremberg rally for the Third Reich. Although it was long banned in the United Kingdom it was a regular feature of the Cambridge Film Society in the mid 1960s. But it was in the 1970s when Nigel from the University Library remarked that after seeing it he had learnt a new gesture. The demonstration of this salute, modelled on that of the Fuhrer, somehow placed the whole Nazi Party in a new context, as seen as a secret society of homosexuals, without the joy of life one associated with them in the Cambridge society of that period. Everyone should see this film if only to learn the new gesture by A. Hilter.
