It is about time I cheated again; so instead of drawing your attention
to such-and-such I want to highlight one of the abiding figures of the
last 30 years, the longest serving party leader in the British
political scene, David Sutch, better known as Screaming Lord Sutch.
While he has never been elected to
parliament
he has been a candidate for a record number of times, only rarely
missing a bye election, like the one recently where he inadvertently
throw away the deposit money. One does wonder how much he has
contributed, in cash, to British political life, and whether the
community has managed to reduce taxation as a result of this
benevelent activity.
