CDP Research & Development

The Composers' Desktop Project has from the first aimed towards cooperative development. The use of the Atari computer in the first years of the Project supported this, due to relative simplicity of its C programming environment and our use of a UNIX TM-like command line environment. The move to PC has led to a more professional working environment, but also reduced the ease with which members could participate.

Our People - Contributors and Research - Completed headings show how many individuals have helped to create the software for the CDP System and catalogs the work completed in the period from 1996 to the present. Robert Fraser's SoundShaper and Trevor Wishart's Sound Loom are the most important of the recent additions.

The Research - Current and Research - Planned sections show what's afoot at the moment and the ideas for projects being discussed, while the Research - Publications heading provides information on published materials which CDP members have written or contributed to.
