The UK IMO 2005 squad consists of a group (of variable size) of young people who are strong contenders for places in the forthcoming International Mathematical Olympiad in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in July 2005. The UK IMO squad page for 2004 is still available.
Some of the squad went on tour during December 28th-January 5th to visit Tata, Budapest, and train with the Hungarian squad (the EU Champions at IMO 2004). Here is a camp photo by Julia Robson and 6^3 photos taken by Michael Donaghy.
The UK will send a team to compete in Iasi, Romania at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad during May 4th-9th 2005, and a team to the International Mathematical Olympiad in Mexico during July 8 - 19, 2005.
The UK team leader is Dr Geoff Smith of the University of Bath, and the deputy leader is Mr Adrian Sanders of Trinity College Cambridge.
It is the beginning of the year, and new squad members (and indolent old ones) are invited to have a go at previous Christmas Assesment Exercises, the only annually updated scientific tool to assist Christmas managers to monitor and control the quality of guests.
