The UK IMO squad consists of a group (of variable size) of young people who are strong contenders for places in the forthcoming International Mathematical Olympiad in Glasgow in July 2002. The squad went on tour during December 27th-January 4th. It visited Budapest, and trained with the Hungarian squad.

The UK team leader is Dr Geoff Smith of the University of Bath, and the deputy leader is Mr Richard Atkins of Oundle School.

Here are some problems which the team addressed at the Bath UK IMO training camp in 2002. The country of origin of the problems is specified.

There are mentoring schemes to support the squad. Here are problems which have been used in the past.

People may be added to the squad by virtue of their brilliant performance in national mathematics competitions, the most direct route being via an excellent showing in the second round of the British Mathematical Olympiad.
