A lurking goat-beast

Our last green 'man' at Mere is on the church exterior.  He sits under a water-spout on the south-east side of the church, in the angle between the east ends of the south aisle and the chancel.  He is a foliage-spewing beast, ram or goat-headed, but with a dragonish body.

Also at Mere

  • 7 green men inside the church
  • A mediaeval St Michael above the porch
  • Misericords
  • Angel roof
  • Mediaeval cross in the churchyard
  • Yapps Brothers of Mere - a wine-merchants - well worth stopping for a tasting!
