Description

Once again, architect Charles Ponting has included a fine green man in his church restoration work.  This wild-eyed demon, spewing copious amounts of foliage, decorates a bracer of the roof in the north aisle of Edington Priory Church.

The green man is above the first column to your right as you enter the church.  To view it, go up the north aisle a short distance and turn to face west.  If it is dark, the light switches by the north door include one which lights the carving.

Also at Edington

  • Two dragons carved on the misericords
  • Two superb tombs in the north transpect and the chancel
  • Much interesting carving inside and out
  • A naked man (carved!) reclining on the string course on the west wall of the exterior of the south transept.
