The GREENSENSE project was funded by the European
Commission DG Research under the Energy, Environment and Sustainable
Development programme of the 5th Framework. It lasted for 27 months, having begun in
December 2000. The project involved partners from the UK, Germany and
Spain. |
The project aims to contribute to the
field of Green National Accounting in two major ways. The first is to develop a framework of
National Accounting that reflects the productivity of the economy, but that
also reflects an economy's sustainability. It is hoped that this will
contribute towards a consensus as to the appropriate framework for Green
National Accounting. The second is to address the current shortage of environmental data by extending the methodology by which environmental impacts are measured. |
