Inferior oolite - Shelly Limestone

Inferior Oolite - Shelly Limestone

The Inferior Oolite contains more fossils than the Great Oolite (Bath Stone). It is, therefore not used in the front parts of the expensive Georgian houses in Bath.

It was formed in a similar environment to the Great Oolite but the water conditions were more turbulent as it contains more broken shelly fragments.
