  • As from 1989 until 1999, I acted as a general manager/director of an international shipping company in Istanbul dealing with all technical, operational and financial matters. The activities involved daily management of cargo ships, crewing, dry-docking, engine and hull repairs, chartering, and legal matters.
  • Consultant to Ministry of Defence, British Technology Group (BTG), GEC, Howden Compressors, British Rail, and various local companies during the period between 1983 and 1989. I also ran a consultancy company (B&S Consultancy) in partnership with Prof Burrows until I returned to Turkey in October 1988.

  • Member of the Working Group to set up an MSc in Mechatronics, 2003.
  • One of the three representatives of CPTMC interviewed by the EPSRC Review Panel for the successful renewal of the Platform Grant, 2003.
