This series is inspired by the Heads series by Philip-Lorca diCorcia. However, rather than using a flash to pick individuals out, pictures were taken making use of small areas of sunlight that would naturally highlight the subject compared to the rest of the street.

By using the light in such a way, the people in the series appear detached from their surroundings, reflecting that we may all stand out from the crowd at some point. Yet they are also shown in their most natural state, how others would view them as they walk by. The shadows in the images, including other people that may surround the subject but remain in darkness, create sense of mystery. This often provokes the viewer to speculate who the subject might be, where they have come from and where they may be going. It is this mystery and sense of a possible narrative that makes the subjects stand out so much from an otherwise typical street setting.
