Background:

Noses are prominent facial features that provide fixation points for facial recognition and are relatively invariant to facial expression. However, their use as a biometric has received relatively little attention. Full 3D nose shape matching can be computationally expensive. Work at Bath has investigated the use of low dimensionality features, derived from 3D photometric images provided by our collaborators, for recognition.
