Warning! quilting can be addictive

I am currently a member of the Bath Quilters
I took up quilting in 1992 and became hooked soon after I finished my first quilt. As quilting is very popular in the USA, I was introduced to this technique during my posdoctoral days in California. After our daughter Angela was born, I decided to look for a new challenge, which I could do at home. (Labwork is not so easy with a baby in your arms!)

my first one This is the pattern of my first quilt and is called "Lovers Knot".
It was just the right project to start with.
Eleanor Burns has published some neat books about speed quilting.
With some practice and endurance it is possible to finish such a project in a weekend.

quilt94 The "Baby Block" arrangement, in the form of a colour wheel, is a crystallographer's delight!

These quilts, depicting the classic "Attic Window" pattern, were sewn in dedication to our former Ph.D. students, as a mark of our gratitude. The molecules shown in the pattern were synthesized by the students themselves, while I took care of the crystallographic part.
