My cat....Barney-Bo

We met...

I met Barney In August 2000. At that time he was a little down on his luck. He'd been abandoned by his previous owners when they moved house.
For some bizarre, unknown reason they hadn't wanted to take him or their other cat with them. A neighbour found them both, decided to keep his companion
and so Barney ( his original name - but it suits ) was handed over to the Bristol branch of Cats Protection . This is where I met him one summer's evening.

His friends...

In order for me to become his new owner he had to have the Op. In fact, he had this on the same day I picked him up for the first time. Neutered and a new
home all in the same day! Of course he took it all in his stride. He loves the garden and has two companions now, Basil ( aka 'Animation' ) and little Linus
with whom he gets high from the cat-mint.

His accidents...#1

He has had a few scrapes since living at Harrington road. Famously, I ran over him ( by accident ) one evening. Overjoyed to hear me arriving home, he shot out into the road towards the drive. Now then, 99% of the time I would have turned into the drive to be met by him as I got out of the car. On this occasion however I was driving past the house. It's a horrible sensation when you see a momentary flash of tortoiseshell disappearing under your bonnet and you know immediately that you've run over your own cat. Needless to say I was distraught, but he was nowhere to be seen! Miraculously the car had passed directly over the top of him. After 15 mins or so he showed himself, looking decidedly shaken and disorientated. After a quick call to the vet ( £90 call-out fee no less! ) we sped over to the surgery. Of course by the time I got him out on the examination table he was absolutely fine again. I'm sure he thought the vet's bill would teach me a lesson.....

After surviving my car, he was hit again about six months later ( and we don't even live on a busy road which says something ! ) and this time was hurt seriously. He lost the use of his back legs for a few weeks with nerve damage and it was touch and go whether he would make it. As it was, he made a fine recovery although he did lose the use of his tail. The vet wanted to remove it straight away, but I resisted and thankfully he has enough movement in it now to haul it out of the way when he sprays! So that's just a bit about Barney-Bo the cat. Coming soon 'Basil and Linus arrive'......
